Successful trainees will receive a Statement of Attainment for the current RII units of competency for Underground Shotfiring.

Course cost including manual $1250.00

This course is for persons wanting to complete the theory component of the Surface Shotfirer training course.

Successful trainees will receive

  1. Certificate of Completion for the theory shotfirer units of competency not a Statement of Attainment.
  2. Statement of Attainment for the blast crew competencies RIIBLA201D Support Shotfirer and RIIBLA205D Store, Handle and Transport of Explosives.

Notes:

  • A Certificate of Completion is not a recognised qualification and will not support an application for a Shotfirers licence.
  • A Statement of Attainment for the shotfirer competencies is required to support an application for a Shotfirer licence.
  • The Certificate can be upgraded to a Statement of Attainment on completion of the required practical experience and assessments.
  • Upgrading a Certificate to a Statement will incur additional costs.

This unit is required in certain states in order to maintain an unrestricted license for blasting in and around built up areas.

The pre-requisite for this course is RIIBLA301D Conduct surface shotfiring operations or equivalent.

This course is for Inspectors wanting to increase their knowledge and capability in relation to surface drill and blast and down-hole perforating operations.

Successful trainees will receive a Certificate of Completion.

  • A Certificate of Completion is not a recognised qualification under the National Framework and will not support an application for a Shotfirers licence.

This is a course for practicing drill and blast engineers wishing to obtain the qualification RIIBLA601E Design Blasts.

To complete the course trainees need to complete five assignments detailing the design and implementation of a blast from concept through to reconciliation.

Trainees will need access to drill and blast design software and an operating site in order to demonstrate competency.

The course is expected to take around 40 hours to complete.

  1. The requirements under the Act about storage, transport, manufacture, sale and use of explosives;
  2. The hazards associated with each type of blasting explosive, its blasting characteristics, safe handling procedures and methods of use.

Completion of this course meets these requirements.

This course provides successful trainees with both the RIIBLA201D Support Shotfirer and RIIBLA205D Store, Handle and Transport of Explosives Units of Competency.

This is a course for shotfirers wanting to refresh their RIIBLA402D Monitor and control the effects of blasting on the environment Unit of competency.

This unit is required in certain states in order to maintain an unrestricted license for blasting in and around built up areas.

Note that refresher candidates must have an existing Statement of Attainment with the RIIBLA402D Unit shown. Candidates wanting an unrestricted license who do not already have this unit will need to complete the full RIIBLA402D course.
