This course is for persons in the role of Drill and Blast Engineer at AA surface sites.

This course is specific for AA Senior Drill and Blast Engineers and Supervisors with responsibility for the management of drill and blast operations.

Completion of all units and assignments provides the competencies  RIIBLA602D Establish and Maintain a Blasting System and RIIBLA401D Manage Blasting Operations

This course provides successful trainees with both the RIIBLA201D Support Shotfirer and RIIBLA205D Store, Handle and Transport of Explosives Units of Competency.
These units are suitable for persons wanting to work in blast crew and are required for some statutory positions such as Open Cut Examiner.

Both theory and practical assessment must be completed.

Successful trainees will receive a Certificate of Completion for the shotfirer units of competency not a Statement of Attainment

Notes:

  • The Certificate can be upgraded to a Statement of Attainment on completion of the required practical experience and assessments.
  • Upgrading a Certificate to a Statement may incur additional costs.

This course is for Site Management needing to complete a Safe Drilling and Blasting course in order to develop a basic but thorough understanding of the drill and blast process.

Successful trainees will receive a Certificate of Completion for the shotfirer units of competency and not a Statement of Attainment

This assessment is for persons completing the Explosives and Blasting course.

Successful trainees will receive a Certificate of Completion.

All topics must be completed.

This course is for Inspectors wanting to increase their knowledge and capability in relation to surface drill and blast and down-hole perforating operations.

Successful trainees will receive a Certificate of Completion.

Notes:

  • A Certificate of Completion is not a recognised qualification under the National Framework and will not support an application for a Shotfirers licence.
